Synchronizing is an exclusive mechanic available only for bards and minstrels. You can synchronize with an ally so that the affected spells of the bard or minstrel occur around the synchronized ally instead of around you. This is to facilitate the application of buffs in group content and also to hit targets at a safe distance by synchronizing with your group's tank, for example.
You can synchronize with an ally by typing Synchronize "Playername", and you will then be connected to that player. If you wish to undo the synchronization, simply type Synchronize and you will be unlinked from all synchronized players.
You can also synchronize by right-clicking on the desired player and then clicking on Sync with playername, as shown in the image.
Exclusively for bards, you can change your gameplay to be more focused on support (suitable for groups) or focused on damage (suitable when you are alone). To switch between these two modes, the bard must cast Performance Style "Soloist" or Performance Style "Orchestra" for the changes to take effect. Some spells will behave differently when executed in either mode. You can also change styles by right-clicking on your "Lute" weapon.
