Synchronizing is an exclusive mechanic available only for bards and minstrels. You can synchronize with an ally so that the affected spells of the bard or minstrel occur around the synchronized ally instead of around you. This is to facilitate the application of buffs in group content and also to hit targets at a safe distance by synchronizing with your group's tank, for example.
You can synchronize with an ally by typing Synchronize "Playername", and you will then be connected to that player. If you wish to undo the synchronization, simply type Synchronize and you will be unlinked from all synchronized players.
You can also synchronize by right-clicking on the desired player and then clicking on Sync with playername, as shown in the image.
Exclusively for bards, you can change your gameplay to be more focused on support (suitable for groups) or focused on damage (suitable when you are alone). To switch between these two modes, the bard must cast Performance Style "Soloist" or Performance Style "Orchestra" for the changes to take effect. Some spells will behave differently when executed in either mode. You can also change styles by right-clicking on your "Lute" weapon.
Specialization is a sub-class you can choose while playing any vocation that allows you to choose between two branches of a class, both with different spells past the level of its base vocation, giving them both a different feel on how you play the game. The specialization happens as soon as you get your Promotion, upon talking to the NPC Onkyo, who's located at the very top of the NPC Tower.
Upon talking to Onkyo, you will be prompted to a window which you will have to choose your specialization. Each class has two specializations for you to choose. This choice is not permanent, as you are able to change specializations with a short cooldown. Below we'll elaborate further into the different spells each specialization has.
